What this site collects

This site is a static website. There are no user accounts, no newsletters with stored subscriber lists, no comment system and no contact form that stores submissions. Reading a guide does not require you to give us anything.

• Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request data (IP address, user agent, requested path, timestamp) to serve pages and defend against abuse. These logs are retained by the provider for a limited period.
• Aggregate traffic measurement. We may use privacy-respecting, cookie-free analytics to count page views. It does not build a profile of you and is not used for advertising.
• Search. The site search runs entirely in your browser against a static index file. Your query is not sent to us.

Cookies

We do not set advertising or tracking cookies. If a future feature needs a cookie, this section will be updated before that feature ships. See the cookie notice for details on third-party cookies that may be set once you leave our pages.

Affiliate links and third parties

When you click an outbound commercial link, you leave You Could Travel and the merchant's own privacy policy applies. Merchants and affiliate networks may set their own cookies or receive a referral identifier so that a booking can be attributed to this site. We choose partners that publish their own privacy terms, but we do not control what they collect. If you prefer not to be tracked, use your browser's cookie controls or open the merchant's site directly.

Email

If you email us, we hold your message and address only for as long as it takes to answer you and keep a record of corrections. We do not add you to any list, and we do not sell or share correspondence.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to processing or lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because we hold almost nothing, most requests are answered by confirming that we have no record of you. Where we do hold something — an email you sent, for example — we will act on a verifiable request within the period required by applicable law.

Children

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

International transfers and security

Our hosting and email providers may process data in countries other than yours. We rely on those providers' contractual safeguards for such transfers. We keep the site's data footprint deliberately small, which is the most effective protection we can offer.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the update date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will be described in the relevant guide or on this page.
