About You Could Travel
Travel stories, city guides and honest gear advice. Independent, reader-first, and honest about how we make money.
What this site is
You Could Travel is an independent travel publication. We publish destination guides, gear advice and booking strategy in six sections — destinations, gear and kit, booking and budget, food and culture, responsible travel and planning tips. There are currently 40 guides across 6 sections, all written for readers who would rather spend their money on the trip than on the wrong bag, the wrong insurance policy or a hotel they could have booked better.
Who writes it
Guides are produced by the You Could Travel editorial team and published under a team byline. We do not invent individual personas, fake author credentials or imaginary trips, and we do not publish reviews that imply hands-on testing we have not done. When a recommendation depends on specifications, we say so: our gear guides are built from published specifications, manufacturer documentation and the criteria that actually matter for the trip you are planning.
How we research
- Destination guides are built from published transport schedules, official tourism and park information, and route geography — with the practical frictions named, not hidden.
- Gear and booking guides compare options by use case: who each pick suits, who should skip it, and what you give up in return.
- Time-sensitive details (opening hours, fees, visa rules, airline policies) always carry the same instruction: confirm before you travel. Rules change faster than articles do.
- When a claim cannot be verified, it does not go in the guide.
How we make money
Some outbound links are affiliate links. If you book a hotel, buy a bag or take out an insurance policy through one of those links, the merchant may pay us a small commission. You pay the same price either way, and the commission never determines what we recommend — several of our guides explain when not to buy, and when the cheaper option is the better one.
We do not sell sponsored placements, we do not publish paid reviews, and we do not accept payment to rank a product higher. Full details are in our affiliate disclosure.
Corrections
If something here is out of date or wrong, tell us and we will fix it. Email hello@youcouldtravelblog.com with the page and the detail, and we will correct the guide and update its revision date.
Editorial independence
Recommendations are made by the editorial team. Commercial partners have no input into what we cover, how we rank scenario-based picks, or which tradeoffs we publish. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
