YOU COULD TRAVEL

Travel stories, city guides and honest gear advice

Affiliate disclosure

Last updated 2026-09-11. This page explains how this site is funded.

The short version

You Could Travel is free to read because some of the links on it are affiliate links. If you click one and go on to book a hotel, buy a piece of kit or take out an insurance policy, the merchant may pay us a commission. You never pay more for using our links, and the commission has no influence on what we recommend or how we rank scenario-based picks.

How to spot an affiliate link

Outbound commercial links on this site are routed through our own /go/ paths and open in a new tab. Instructional links inside articles and all internal navigation point at our own pages. Editorial links to sources, official tourism boards and transport operators are not affiliate links and earn us nothing.

Partners we work with

We participate in affiliate programmes run by the companies below. This list reflects the brands whose links appear on the site; it is maintained by hand, so a new partnership may appear here shortly after the first link goes live.

  • Amazon — gear
  • Booking.com — hotels
  • Discover Cars — car hire
  • Expedia — flights hotels
  • GetYourGuide — tours
  • REI — outdoor gear
  • SafetyWing — insurance
  • Skyscanner — flights
  • Trainline — rail
  • Viator — tours
  • Wise — money
  • World Nomads — insurance

What commissions do not buy

  • No paid placement: nobody can pay to appear in a guide or to be listed first.
  • No sponsored articles, no advertorials, no paid product reviews.
  • No invented testing: we do not claim hands-on experience we have not had.
  • No hidden downgrades: where the cheaper option is the better one, we say so, even when it pays us less.

Prices and availability

Prices, availability, cover terms and fees change constantly. We do not publish fixed prices for products or services; we tell you what to check and how to compare. Always confirm the current price, terms and conditions on the merchant's own site before you buy.
